PSG 4–2 Barcelona: four goals in 14 minutes

The holders and Barcelona were level at 2–2 with 11 minutes left in Paris. Désiré Doué had put PSG ahead before half-time, 19-year-old right-back Xavi Espart equalised on his full Champions League debut, Lucas Hernández headed PSG back in front, and Lamine Yamal beat Warren Zaïre-Emery to level again in the 79th minute.

Then Vitinha scored from outside the box and Fabián Ruiz finished from close range to make it 4–2. PSG have won all three games, but the win came at a heavy cost: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, and Ousmane Dembélé and Marquinhos are out for several weeks. Liverpool 4–3 Villarreal: three from three

Andoni Iraola's Liverpool had to come from behind in a chaotic night at Anfield, and goals from Alexis Mac Allister (two), Ronald Araújo and Florian Wirtz took them to nine points from nine. Teenage winger Rio Ngumoha was named player of the match. Along with PSG, Liverpool are one of only a handful of clubs with a perfect record.

Manchester City 5–1 AEK Athens: Foden's hat-trick

Phil Foden scored a hat-trick, with Elliot Anderson and Rayan Cherki also on target, as City bounced back from their matchday 2 home defeat to PSG. Maresca's side have six points from three games.

Bayern 2–2 Arsenal: Rice rescues a point, Saka limps off

Arsenal lost Bukayo Saka to a thigh injury after only ten minutes in Munich. His replacement, Eberechi Eze, gave them the lead, but Alphonso Davies equalised and Harry Kane scored a second-half penalty after Jurriën Timber handled. Declan Rice's late shot squeezed past Manuel Neuer to earn a draw. Mikel Arteta said Saka's injury "doesn't look good at all" — see our Saka injury update.

Como 4–1 Manchester United

Cesc Fàbregas's Como were 1–0 up inside two minutes through Nico Paz and never looked back. Paz scored again after a mistake by substitute Carlos Baleba, and Anastasios Douvikas and Jacobo Ramón also scored. Joshua Zirkzee's stoppage-time goal was United's only reply. It was their seventh game without a win in all competitions — the full story is in our piece on the pressure on Michael Carrick.
