Freiburg 1-3 Bayern Munich: Bayern back on top with Kompany in hospital as Gnabry reaches 100 Bundesliga goals
Vincent Kompany collapsed at training on Friday and remains in hospital with an unexplained virus, so assistant Aaron Danks took charge. Dayot Upamecano, Serge Gnabry and Michael Olise scored as Bayern moved back above Dortmund before next weekend's Klassiker.

Bayern Munich went back to the top of the Bundesliga on Sunday — without their head coach. Vincent Kompany watched from a hospital bed as his side won 3-1 at Freiburg.
Kompany: "stable", no diagnosis yet
Kompany collapsed at training on Friday and was taken to hospital, where he is being treated for what reports describe as a mystery virus. Bayern said on Saturday he is likely to be out for "days, not weeks".
"Vinnie is stable," said sporting director Max Eberl. "He doesn't have any headaches anymore. There's no final diagnosis yet."
Assistant coach Aaron Danks took charge. He said he had messaged Kompany after the game: "I just replied saying 'brilliant — now go rest'."
The goals
| Minute | Scorer | Assist |

| c. 80' | Tom Bischof own goal (Freiburg) | — |
| 90+5' | Michael Olise (Bayern) | — |
Upamecano, named man of the match, finished a counter-attack for the opener. Gnabry's goal was his 100th in the Bundesliga. Freiburg pulled one back through Bischof's own goal, but Olise sealed it in stoppage time.
Jonas Urbig played in goal in place of the injured Manuel Neuer.
What it means
Freiburg had won all three home league games before Sunday; Bayern had won only once in their previous four away games. Bayern finished the day top on goal difference, level on points with Borussia Dortmund, who had beaten Frankfurt on Saturday — see our Saturday roundup.
"It makes me very proud of the team," said Konrad Laimer. Freiburg's Vincenzo Grifo admitted: "Bayern have a lot of quality and didn't allow many chances."
Next: Der Klassiker
Bayern host Borussia Dortmund on Saturday 31 October (18:30 CET) with first place on the line. Whether Kompany is back on the touchline will be the big question this week. Read our pre-match preview and see the Bundesliga table.
