Freiburg v Bayern Munich preview: Kompany's leaders face the Bundesliga's in-form home side before Der Klassiker
Bayern are top after a 6-1 win over RB Leipzig, but they have scored only four away goals this season and are without Luis Díaz. Freiburg have won all three home league games and scored a club-record 15 goals at this stage.

Bayern Munich travel to Freiburg on Sunday 25 October (16:30 CET) knowing that Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund is next weekend. Freiburg, who briefly led the table this season, will not make it easy.
Bayern: brilliant at home, ordinary away
Vincent Kompany's side went back to the top with a 6-1 win over RB Leipzig, when Luis Díaz scored a hat-trick and Harry Kane and Michael Olise also scored. Kane's 100th Bundesliga game came in that match. Midweek, they drew 2-2 with Arsenal in the Champions League.
Away from home it has been a different story. The four points Bayern have dropped all came on the road, in a 0-0 draw at Schalke and a 2-2 draw at Augsburg. Of their 22 league goals, only four have come away, and they have beaten only Elversberg in their last four away games in all competitions.
Team news:
- Out: Luis Díaz (hamstring, picked up against Arsenal). Ismael Saibari, Lennart Karl or Alphonso Davies could play on the left.
- Unclear: Joshua Kimmich, who missed the Arsenal game after a family bereavement. Tom Bischof could partner Aleksandar Pavlović in midfield again.
Freiburg: a fortress so far
Julian Schuster's side have won all three Bundesliga home games, scoring 11 and conceding two, and have won every home game this season in all competitions. Their 15 league goals are a club record at this stage and the fifth-most in the league. They lead the league in headed goals (four) and have the best finishing efficiency in the Bundesliga.
They have had a bad week, though: a first league defeat, 2-1 at Leverkusen, then a 3-0 loss at Monaco in the Conference League. Yuito Suzuki, their top scorer with four goals, is back from suspension; Yannik Engelhardt is a doubt.
The history
Freiburg have beaten Bayern only once in their last 46 league meetings. On Bayern's last visit they won 3-2 with three late goals. Freiburg have started a Bundesliga season with four straight home wins only once before, in 2016-17 under Christian Streich.
The top scorers
Kane is not leading the scoring charts for once: Leverkusen's Patrik Schick and Bremen's Niclas Füllkrug have six goals each. Schick has scored in every one of the first six matchdays and is chasing Robert Lewandowski's record of nine in a row. See the Bundesliga top scorers.
