PSG: winning, but losing players
Luis Enrique's side have won seven competitive games in a row, including 4-2 wins over Manchester City and Barcelona in the Champions League. Their 14 Champions League goals in three games are the joint-most in the competition, and half of their 14 league goals have come from set pieces. Their last three home games finished 13-3 on aggregate; their only recent home defeat was 2-1 to Monaco in early September.
The cost of the win over Barcelona was heavy:
- Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has torn a cruciate ligament and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
- Ousmane Dembélé and Marquinhos have thigh injuries and are out for a few weeks.
- Nuno Mendes is out with muscle tightness, and Alessandro Longoni is doubtful with a knock.
We covered the injuries in detail in PSG's injury crisis. Désiré Doué, who has scored in his last three games, is now PSG's main attacking threat.
Lyon: dangerous on the road
Paulo Fonseca's Lyon came from behind to beat Nice 2-1 last weekend, with Pavel Šulc and Tanner Tessmann scoring within minutes of each other. Thursday's 3-0 defeat at Hoffenheim was their first in the Europa League.
Lyon have not conceded in two of their three away league games, and they won at the Parc des Princes last season. Another win would give them successive away league wins over PSG for the first time this century. They have also taken four points from losing positions this season, all at home.
Lyon team news: Mohamed Ouedraogo and Nicolás Tagliafico (both knee) are doubts, and Keito Nakamura is suspended after his red card against Nice.
Possible line-ups
PSG: Safonov; Zaïre-Emery, Zabarnyi, Beraldo, Digne; Fernández, Vitinha, Ruiz; Akliouche, Torres, Doué
Lyon: Descamps; Athekame, Mata, Niakhaté, Abner; Morton, Tessmann; Nuamah, Nartey, Tolisso; Šulc
What to watch
Without four regulars, PSG's depth will be tested in the middle of a run of big games. Lyon's compact away shape against PSG's set pieces could decide it. The Ballon d'Or ceremony follows on Monday, with ten PSG players on the shortlist — see our Ballon d'Or 2026 guide.
