Kai Havertz scored at the back post after 16 minutes, Declan Rice was credited with his league-leading fifth assist, and Arsenal held on to win at Anfield. Florian Wirtz hit the bar for Liverpool. Arsenal go three points clear at the top.

Arsenal are three points clear at the top of the Premier League. Kai Havertz scored the only goal as Arsenal beat Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield on Sunday 1 November, their first league win at Anfield since 2012.
The goal
On 16 minutes, Declan Rice and Noni Madueke combined down the right after a loose pass out from Alisson, and the low ball across the box found Havertz free at the back post. Rice was credited with the assist, his fifth in the Premier League this season, the most in the division.
Rice, a doubt earlier in the week, started the game — see Friday's team news.
Liverpool's chances
Liverpool had plenty of moments but could not score:

| 2nd half | Bradley Barcola's cross is just beyond Alexander Isak |
| 2nd half | Isak fires over from a tight angle; Ronald Araújo's shot is blocked |
| Late | Substitute Víctor Muñoz heads Kostas Tsimikas' cross at Raya |
At the other end, Alisson saved from Tzolis and Rice, and Bruno Guimarães curled one just wide.
Iraola's selection
Andoni Iraola made seven changes from the Carabao Cup win over Chelsea. Trey Nyoni made his Premier League debut in midfield, and Dominik Szoboszlai and Víctor Muñoz, both back from injury, came off the bench.
| Liverpool XI |
|---|
| Alisson, Araújo, Van Dijk, Jacquet, Kerkez, Nyoni, Mac Allister, Barcola, Wirtz, Gakpo, Isak |
It is Liverpool's second league defeat under Iraola. A crowd of 60,406 watched.
Arteta's patience pays off
Arsenal were without Bukayo Saka and the suspended Max Dowman — see Dowman's appeal. Tzolis, back from a hamstring injury, came into the side, and Madueke passed his late fitness test and made the goal.
